The Uncharted Multiplayer servers are getting shut down in September 2019 so I wanted to say goodbye and take a trip down memory lane as I play Uncharted 3 online one last time. For me its still 4231. 3 had such bad pacing with them jumping all over the place and such weak villians for me, i hate the fact that talbot was never explained and the fact that cutter was just cut out suddenly (i know its because the actor just got another role all of the sudden and they had to change the script) just rubs me the wrong way. 2 is still a fantastic game with near perfect pacing and some amazing action sequences and i could switch 2 and 4 depending on the day. 4 just gave the perfect conclusion to the drake series imo, the gameplay was miles ahead of 3, the story was way better written than any of the other games and the action sequences (scotland escape, madagascar chase, tower collapse) looked so incredible and offered so much more control than before, plus very few things in entertainment can make me tear up, but the ending had me depressed for like a week so i give it some points for that. Different pace I would guess. Uncharted 2 and 3 are a typical blockbuster action movie, it's all about having those fun characters go through more and more impossible action without letting you catch up your breath too much.Uncharted 4 is more intimate. It's not about the action, it's about the characters.

If before, the treasure was a excuse for adventure and action, it is now a excuse to explore the characters which can results in a slower pace with way more moment to talk. This and the more realistic take on it also makes the action less impressive. The story is also more complex, where the former were more simple, so it can make you lostI'm not a big fan of Uncharted 4 because in a way, it's telling the former Uncharted were wrong.

There is only one true sequence that feels Uncharted ( the chase in Madagascar ) and it's followed by Elena guilting you. T portrays Drake as someone obsessed, who will give up his wife only for a treasure but Drake isn't that obsessed, he wanted to give up in the first game. He is a action hero, he goes for the treasure to save the world. The game had the wrong focus for me, which is probably why many likes it on the other hand, because it's taking a fantasy and trying to ground it in the real world.But Uncharted 4 have its strenghts and I can see why a lot of people enjoy it. It just left some kind of sour taste to me, I like it but I also kind of dislike it. I think UC4 had some pacing issues that bogged it down in comparison to the thrill ride that UC2 and 3 are.

It works in some sections like the Madagascar exploration, but when you're doing the classic walk-and-talk moments in the 500th jungle area in a row, it can get dull, especially on replays when you've already gotten most of the value out of dialogue and cutscenes. That's not to trash UC4, far from it, but I think its predecessors did a better job of balancing the firefights and action setpieces with the intermissions of calmer climbing and exploration.
